Rating Easy.
Discover unexpected sophistication in the much-liked Teatro Nacional, home of the National Symphony. An invaluable example of European architectural art, constructed by coffee barons who raised the money by a self-imposed coffee tax during the 19th century to stimulate culture in Costa Rica . You will see the Bellavista Fortress, which was closed in 1948 when the army was abolished. The fortress has reopened as the National Museum and has a collection of interesting pre Columbian artefacts. San Jose's great supermarket is the Mercado Central, where independent vendors sell virtually anything you'd ever need. The University, La Sabana Park, residential areas and a quick opportunity for purchasing souvenirs and handicrafts are all part of this introduction to our friendly country.
